Paddleboarding For Total Body Workout

If you're looking for a way to exercise that is fun, adventurous, and gets you outside in beautiful scenery, try paddleboarding for total body workout. You don't need to be close to an ocean to take up the sport either. People of all ages, from children older than toddlers to their grandparents, are buying boards and paddles and heading to the closest lake or river or any other body of water that has no waves. Not only that, in some areas you can go out on the water all year round. (The better you get at the sport the less likely you will be to fall in.)

Paddleboarding for total workout is becoming so popular because not only does it workout all your muscles, but it is low impact. Paddling and balancing on the board strengthens the muscles of the legs, buttocks, back, shoulders and arms, and the abdomen. Like riding a bicycle, the peddler can move along at a recreational pace or speed the pace up to get a more aerobic workout. Some peddlers can peddle faster than ten miles per hour.

What kind of equipment do you need to do stand-up paddleboarding? Paddleboards are about thirty-two inches wide. Regular surfboards are twenty inches wide. As your skill level rises, you can use a narrower board. You will need a paddle. The paddle should be six to eight inches taller than the paddler. To be safe, you should wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD). Some places do not have any safety regulations in place for paddleboarding but many places do. Check with the US Coast Guard office in your area or the closest one to you to find out what equipment is required in your community. One community classifies the boards as vessels. The paddlers are required to wear life jackets. They must also have a sound-producing device such as a whistle to warn boats of their presence. Checking the safety regulations is very important!

Where can you get all the equipment for this sport? How much does it cost? The most likely places to buy the paddleboards, paddles, and life vests are stores that sell sporting goods. If you live in a cool climate you might want to invest in a wetsuit. Another outlet is Costco, which could stock all the equipment you need. As to cost, that will depend on the model of the paddleboard you buy. The price of the board could range from $900 to $1,500. The paddle could cost between $150 to $300. Shop around. Going paddleboarding for total body workout is worth it!
